Finally got my chance

Being that I haven't been on the water since May, I figured today would be a disaster. Headed up to Portia Bay and arrived with wheels and bearings intact. The motor actually cranked right up too! The crappie were hungry, and even though I didn't have any rosies to feed 'em...they tolerated the shiners pretty well. Caught fish at all depths on shiners and jigs tipped with shiners, and never got over 1/4 mi from the ramp. Mostly smaller crappie deep (12.5'). Found the larger crappie 2-5' deep over that 11-13' of water, just outside of the treeline. Only 1 other boat on the water that showed up around noon...man I love deer and duck season.:rolleyes: Ended up keeping 25 after cullin' some 9-10" fish. Loads of little crappie and bass in that lake. I'm bout to get on a roll...headed down to Star City for Thanksgiving and plan to fish the honey hole and coal pile. I have a lot of fishin' to make up for working the past few months...:D

Ceb good to see you back on the water catching some. Nice mess of fish. Hope you do well down at the coal pile and Cane Creek, but I know driving to the pond hast be crossing your mind.

Very nice mess of fish CEB. You should have made a trial run down to the Little Maumelle and tried your luck there... LOL. Good mess and fabulous day to fish.

I have to get down to Star City soon and see if I can pull some of them barn doors up. Won't be this week unfortunately.

welcome back chris! I haven't been doing too much crappie fishing recently, but I've been checkin the boards. I need to go down to cane creek & fish the pond. hopefully I'll se you out there.

Ceb glad to see you made a trip and caught some fish. We missed having you at Darbonne this past weekend. Lot of fish caught but nothing huge.

Good see you back Chris. Looks like you've still got the touch. I'm still fishing the Little Maumelle consistently through the winter and doing pretty good most days. Miss seeing you spider rigging around the mouth of the river. Have a good holiday.
