Daughter's Ozark Mnt Buck/Proud Dad/11-16-09
My daughter and I made our first deer hunting trip of the year. Hunted the Ozark's north of Hector AR. It was a day that got colder and colder with rain periods that made us both question ourselves. We stuck with it. Hunted one Mnt side in the morning with no luck until about 1:00PM. We took lunch and got back in the woods about 2:30 PM. We found an old loggin road going around a Mnt side from a power line clearing we followed it, until it ended and decided to set up. She set up right at the end of the loggin road and I decided to hunt about a quarter of a mile away just east of her. At about 4PM I heard her Winchester 270 sing out through the Mountian Valley's. At that moment I became an even prouder father and the excitement that my little girl might have bagged a nice buck in the Ozark Mts loomed. I hurried to get to her as she was standing looking into the woods wondering if the 30 yard shot rang true. We both went to the spot of the shot where she found a blood trail that led right down into the mountain valley. And I do mean DOWN into the mountian valley. You all know what this means. Any way we finally tracked the heart shot deer into a big pile of timber laydowns where he layed still. A beautiful 9 point that had two main tines broke off and should have been an 11 point. Guys the glow on my daughter's face and the hard work she put in for this deer was priceless. Thank the good lord for a couple of buddy's who helped drag it up the Mnt side.:)
