Ain't many places around that have docks. If you're fishin' somewhere that has 'em, I would darn sure give it a try. I was under the impression that it is a summer thing though, I could be wrong.
What are these "docks" of which you speak?
Wannabe...
Umm, pretty sure it's deer season that opens this Saturday. Not dock season ya doofus.

What's the limit on docks?

I've done quite a few shots at The Dock, back in my fire academy days.:D
Was even there for the final weekend blowout. Came darn close to getting arrested at one point though. Eagle lakes got docks and piers all over the place and we fished the edges and as far back as I could slide my pole. We didn't Shoot them though and get way back in there. Taking my ultra light bream pole and TRY to shoot way back in the back of 'em Saturday. Got a couple of Road runners in my box which should work. Still kicking my rear end for not getting ahold of Sat earlier than I did or I could use his Saturday
I used to always get the limit when at the dock....don't remember having to shoot many of them.:eek: Pay em....but not shoot em.:D:D
Don try the metal one that they have tried to block off to keep you from fishing it. It is made from metal pipe and has round metal bracing. We used to call it Crow's pier but don't know who owns it now.
Dock season opens here soon.
Heck, I think some of our members even bought new dock boats, shotguns, dogs, decoys, camo, shells, lights, truck, camo wrap for the truck and joined docks unlimited just for dock season.
I only fish one place that has docks and would get banned if i started shooting up their docks.
Ahem, I believe they are pronounced "DUCKS".:D;):p
As we pulled up to put the boat in last week, there was a gentleman sitting there in his golf cart who told us that they've been catching a bunch there. We fished it for about 30 minutes without a bite though. To many BREAM folks there and they had it surrounded. Least the lake side if it anyways. Think the bank side would be better? We did however find just north of there a nice brushpile and I picked up 2 on it.
don, i have some dock decoys for sale, if you're interested.
Smartelics, I was TRYING to be serious for a change. All set up now, I watched a few on the dock shooting video's with Russ on Midwest crappie. Pretty neat you can watch that on the net. Actually learned a few things
getting serious now, as i fish a lot of docks not DUCKs.
some how my message got posted before i finished. I DON'T REALLY SHOOT DOCKS IT'S MORE LIKE FLIPPING MOST OF OUR DOCKS ARE NOW ONLY 8-12INCHES ABOVE THE WATER, WHICH IS JUST GREAT . WITH A LITTLE PRACTICE YOU CAN FLIP A TUBE JIG 4-5 FOOT BACK UNDER THE DOCK WITH A 10 FOOT B&M CRAPPIE POLE. SITTING ABOUT 15 INCHES ABOVE THE DECK OF YOUR BOAT. SIDE ARMING THE JIG. THIS MONTH HAS JUST BEEN SUPER GOOD BETTER THAN THE LAST 10 YEARS. I'M ONLY FISHING IN ABOUT 5-6 FOOT OF WATER . AND ONLY 36-40 INCHES DEEP. THAT'S IN ILLINOIS SECRET LAKE. HA HA
Hold the rod up and swing the jig under it, then lowering the rod tip. If there was 2 feet of clearance, I could get back 4 or 5 feet back under there. I'm wanting to get 15 feet back in there cause a couple of these docks are pretty big, 20-30 feet wide
If I Had 2 Foot, You Could Flip A Long Way With The Right Wrist Action. 20 Dock's Not The Problem Finding Which Part Of The Dock Holds Fish Is The Hardest As In Winter They Can Be In A Area Of The Size Of A 5 Gallon Bucket
Watched SEVERAL Video's today about dock shooting and alot said that same there. Fish the entire dock and them you hit one SAMLL area that's holding from 5 or 6 up to 20-30
Don the docks on eagle will work for shooting. There is one with an octagon shape gazebo that usually holds fish.
DD one method you might want to try is sling shooting use about a 4-5 ft. ultra light rod and a spinning reel spooled with 6 lb. line. Let out about 2 ft of line and leave the bail open hold the line with index finger, pull jig back till you get a good bow in the rod and let er go. Takes a little practice but aftera few tries you should be able to shoot a 1/16 jig 20/30 ft.
they do that a lot at the wats bar
Never done it for crappie but itworked good for bass and bream .
It wasn't to hard to get up in there. Had a 16th oz jig on and it would hit the water and skip another 5 or 6 feet. I was getting under there about 20 feet or so, first time out. Just NO FESH though. LOL
