I've collected some hot-off-the-press Down Imaging screen captures (as well as 2-way and 3-way split screen views) at the website below. You guys who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Down Imaging will be really impressed with the technology...I sure am!
An introduction to Humminbird Down Imaging
In your images I see that all the information boxes (speed, temp, etc.) are on the bottom. It sure would be nice if that could be incorporated into the next upgrade for the 997's. We lose a lot of precious screen space with all those boxes on the left side of the display. I am pretty sure That ranger690 and some others have suggested that, wonder if HB will look into making that change?
Thanks for sharing the images - it really makes me wish the update was available now!:D
Does the Down Imaging happen to have an A Scope view?
What exactly is an "A Scope" view?
Forget where the term “A scope” first came from but we call this the RTS Window in our products. Basically its what the transducer sees at that moment and has had very little if any filtering or processing done to the sonar data it shows. We use RTS to denote Real Time Sonar as it can update at up to 40 times per second.
I have not seen this in any of the images yet and I suspect that it will not be part of the software upgrade since we only show 2D sonar data in the RTS Window and the Di sonar comes from the Si sonar data.
A Scope = Amplitude Scope = real time sonar display. A term coined by the Britts, who invented the modern active sonar prior to WWII.
Most manufs still use the term A Scope when referencing real time sonar display. Most old salts who have seen a ships CRT sonar display know this term. RTS is a HB gig.
Now you know "the rest of the story".
How many days Rapper????????
Actually I think that the RTS term came from Zercom, who we bought out many years back...
I guess you could say that. We produced products under the Zercom brand name for a few years but the decision was made to no longer do this as all products were changed over to the Humminbird brand name. The engineering and production was all hummingbird by than anyways.
31 days!!:D
