Tying a few Roadrunners for my box and need opinions

I just want your opinion on which tail you like best with the chenille mostly and then maybe what head colors you would like with these combination's. I put a gold willow leaf blade on each one and if for some reason you like a gold Indiana better or even a silver willow leaf or regular Roadrunner blade please say that too?

Then last, if you have another color in mind that I do not have shown here please tell that as well.

I like the one you have with the orange verigated tail. Gives a contrasting color to the head and chenille. I think I'd make them up with several different blades and see which one's the fish like the best.

Now tell me if I'm seeing things but the swivels on those look like they're brass??? or is it the camera doing that

Another tail combo I think would work would be half purple/half chartreuse.

I like the yeller and the orange tails best. I have had orange on the brain for about 2 weeks and cant shake it. The heads and blades look good to go.

With the orange maribou I like a black head.
With the yellow maribou I like a pink head.

I also prefer a nickle Colorado blade for a slower fall.

I really like that variegated or barred maribou!!!!! Where can
I purchase it?

Top left and both on the right look good to me. A strip or 2 of flash would be a good add on. What, no chartreuse?

Well actually they (lots of people) call Fl Yellow Chartreuse and that would be top left, but I also had some Chartreuse with a light green tilt out looking at it.

Only thing I would think to add would be a natural pattern. Maybe a dark green head with an olive body and a variegated green tail staying with the brass blade. I have seen many slabs taken in so many species when the bright getcha colors won't get them. Always good to have a real food imitation in an group of jigs.

Yes good idea and I have some of that barred marabou in Olive with black bars so that should do the trick for this. I really like the Golden Olive though and maybe I will try both.

I do use a lot of silver head/ Blue Body/ White tail, but also a lot of Chart/Blue/Chart. I feel the Blue is a good bait fish color and also think that is probably the reason I do so well with these two along with the Silver/FL Yellow/Blue tail.

One question for you is about Whitlock Turquoise, what would you put with that as a tail color. I have some marabou in that color and seem to always think about what head and body to put it with that would be best? I was told this is the color seen best by fish.

A turquoise huh, if it were me I would go with an emerald green barred with a blood red or an deep yellow barred with a darkish green/olive. This would compliment the body with a natural tail color that might get the biggins to take a swipe at it.

As for the best seen color by fish, I doubt I would have many jigs in my box with the color for slab fishing. Just for every day fishing catch anything that bites times sure but slabs know better.

Perfect example came here about 12 years ago. A huge bass would simply torment anyone who fished for it. Only thing it would take was a living crawdad. One day, I found an imitation crawdad that was simply ugly, muddied up, almost no color left, simply put fugly looking jig. The bass chased it everywhere and hit it 3 times.

Fool the fish into thinking it is something they simply HAVE to hit to find out what it is or think it has to be food. That is the jig that will put those true slabs in the boat and on the bank. Leeches, worms and shiners are not highly visible but are eaten by everything so visibility isn't everything.

Thanks for the input and I will think about that for a bit and try to tie something like this for my Turquoise. Whitlock Turquoise; Whitlock is somewhat famous fly fisherman.

Well that shows what I know when it comes to names of stuff. Thought it was a special color or something. I know a lot about doing it but not about the people who do it. Have read a TON of information from who knows how many well renowned tyers but I doubt I could win a quarter naming one of them in a trivia contest.
