Is it worth it?

I have access to all the boo I want.....HOWEVER I have access to about 600ft of 1.5" PVC and about 1000' of black irrigation pipe (very flexible but stiff enough to stand up). I have not used PVC before. Should I just stick to boo or should I go ahead and get the PVC and irrigation pipe and use it? I will continue to make boo, but is it worth my time to do the PVC when I could be using my resources on boo?

built the boo for the areas with less current and the pvc for areas with greater current.

Each will hold fish BIG TIME. With a good GPS, YOU will be the guy with the locations for next spring. Now that can't be a bad thang. <><

I hope so. Seems like a lot of free material not to use. Just they'll come to it. I see a lot of people use PVC but when it comes down to it, should I use boo instead?

I've sunk quite a bit of 'boo and have never used any PVC. But if someone offered me that much of the stuff, I think I would try to figure out a way to use it.

I would try some of it, but the boo will out produce by a long shot.. I have used both , but all I use now is boo ( the last 2 years ) Hard to beat it for the short term, but for long term, You can't beat wood, tree tops and a block in 18 to 24 foot of water.
I catch fish on the pvc, 2 or 3 on each. Sometimes I catch 15 to 20 on one cane bucket. 5 to 10 on the wood, but there is alway fish on that wood.

I have used pvc in several spots. They have been out for years. Have yet to catch a fish on them. They were placed in good spots too. I'd stick with the boo. CF

I just hate to turn that much PVC down, yet I hate to go through the effort to make the buckets if they wont produce when I can do it on tried and true boo

Mix the PVC and the boo. The boo will hold fish quicker and the PVC will remain to hold the fish after the boo is gone. Just my $.02.

Treed, I want to give you my idea since you seem to have the bulk of the materials. We've all seen jimmy houstons plastic cone with 279' of plastic tubing making a permanent plastic snag free stump. What about instead of the hi $ cone you used a plastic 30 or 55 gal drum and fitted the tubing thru it, pour a bunch of gravel thru the top hole, and push it over the side. I think the effect would be the same and with enough gravel it wouldn't move with the current and would be too heavy or awkward to "steal". Whatchathink?

I haven't seen this. I've seen Bill Dance's ball, but not Jimmy Houston's cone. Where might one look at it?

mix some of your cement real soupy and smear it on the pvc let it dry and the green stuff will adhear once submerged,I mix the plastic with the boo also

There was a post here before and I believe Ernest Patty had started it. He and a few others were making PVC condos and putting bamboo with them. Might be something to look into. I'm all about the free stuff.

Put out the PVC and put the boo next to it. I bet the boo holds more fish and quicker. We put out boo and it had fish on it in less than 2 weeks. I have PVC out for 3 yrs and no fish on it yet. Location is a factor for sure.. The boo provides much more shade from the sun.

Ernest is using willows not bamboo on his but no reason bamboo wouldn't work. I do know that Ernest has caught fish off his "new" PVC / willow condo's pretty quickly after dropping them, like within days.

I've got the CAT Texas State Championship coming up this weekend and then I'll be out of town on business the week after that. Once I get back one of my winter projects is going to be setting my own brush and condo's. I think it's definitely worth it if for no other reason than I know exactly where they are.
