Good Luck to you all who will be out there the next 4 months. Be safe.
I haven't nocked an arrow yet. I won't start till after a couple of good frosts. Good luck to you.
Going hunting all weekend, it should be a pretty good year. Will be be cutting in on my crappie fishing, going to have to started packing my bow in my boat just in case I see the big one around the lake while I'm fishing. Good Luck to you all also.
better pack a thermocell, they are bad this week! Some said they are on sale at BP for 14.95$ and cabelas will match.
I can understand that, my friend. I just hunt my own property. It's only 20 acres but I always get my 2 does every season. I've been letting the bucks pass now for the past 4 years. I've seen a couple of good ones this Summer.
Will prolly let em go for one more year and stick one of em next year. I don't need any more trophies so I may change my mind and just let the bucks live.
I think I'll grab my shooting bag and jump on the 4 wheeler and go shoot for a bit this AM. Haven't shot my .40 or .380 for a few months now. Getting low on ammo.
Looking forward to camp.

Had this buck pass within 25 yards of me tonight and I could not get a shot at him for all the trees he happened to stop behind. Maybe tomorrow night.
Let him grow another year. He'll be a lot better next year.
Dont give up Bigby. Keep after him
Holy Smokes, Bigby! Heck of a rack on that critter.
Keep after 'em and post up some pics when you bring him down.
Bigby Thats A Nice Rack! I Think I Would Be Cutting A Few Trees To Get Some Better Shooting Lanes. Good Luck Hope You Get Him.
:confused: Guess I spent too many years hunting those Cornfed monsters in Illinois. That one still looks like a non-shooter to me.
BOB YOU SAID THE MAGIC WORD "CORNFED". THE BEST I EVER GOT DOWN AT THE FARM WAS A SMALL 10 POINT WHICH SCORED 119 5/8 AND WEIGHED ONLY 134 POUNDS FIELD DRESSED. KIND OF HARD TO PUT MUCH SIZE ON THEM WHEN THERE IS NO CROPS FOR THEM TO FEED ON. AND YOU SURE KNOW THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GET FAT ON FESCUE OR HICKORY NUTS. AND WE SEEM TO HAVE WAY TOO MANY DOES. THE BIG GUYS ARE VERY FEW AND FAR BETWEEN IF YOU CAN FIND THEM. AND I AM NEVER THAT LUCKY DURING FIREARMS SEASON. BUT THEY ARE THERE IF YOU WANT TO WAIT, WAIT AND WAIT.
TAKE A LOOK AT THIS BUCK TAKEN LESS THAN QUARTER MILE FROM MOM AND DADS FARM. AKA RIGHT OVER THE FENCE ON NEIGHBORS PLACE! NEIGHBORS DAUGHTER INLAW GOT LUCKY!
Trophy Whitetail Missouri Deer
BIGBY I cant tell you how many deer I have shot with that verry look on there face
Our corn is still standing but the neighbors' cornfields are bare now. I hope to get a BIG boy this year! We saw several wall hangers after season was over. :p But I can't manage to draw my bow when he's standing close enough. I get too shook up. Let him go out of sight and I can. LMBO...... I'll wait for the firearms season. I CAN pull the trigger when he's standing there.
Good luck all.
I was shook up last night, first time I hunted this farm. Could of took a shot at his liver or maybe the back of his lungs but I didn't want to wound him so I decided to pass, he never knew I was there. The farmer leases the land out for firearm season so if I get another shot at him I'm taking it. Going back in a couple of hours, trying a different tree.:)
Good luck!
I grew up in Alabama, so I feel your pain. The deer didn't get very big down there either. I was spoiled in the 22 yrs I lived in Illinois. I had 3 great farms I could hunt. I harvested 4 deer that weighed over 200# field dressed.
Here is a pic of one of them. He was only 2 1/2 yrs old! Just an 8 pointer but a real bruiser.
Bob that is one nice deer! LOL if we get one down here in South Missouri like that we have to catch him in North Missouri then haul him down here and shoot him.
Did you take a look at what mom and dads, neighbors daughter inlaw got a couple of years ago? She got it about a quarter mile from one of my deer stands. I posted the link:
Trophy Whitetail Missouri Deer
Scoring 161 3/8 inches as a Boone and Crockett typical 8 pointer.
Normally for Hickory County if you get a deer that field dresses in the 150 to160 pound range you have a big deer for the area. Normally up in Benton County around Truman lake the deer are larger.
That is a monster for sure, Dan. Very impressive.
Those are some nice deer guys, thats my whole goal in life is to take a monster buck and a 3lb crappie. It may never happen but I'm going to have fun trying.:D I just seen a doe this evening I guess he has to wait till Thursday when I'm off work again.
nice buck
Here's mine from last year. About as good as I have been able to do down here in southern Missouri hunting on public land. Oh, how I wish for some private land. As you can see I've still had the pins in it working on it when I took this picture.
Those are some nice bucks! I did not take one last year since I was only hunting one buck and he never showed while I was in my stand but he sure left his sign when I wasn't maybe this year I will get him.
Nice deer Chris! WoW! Looks like someone did a nice job mounting him for you! Where did you have him done at?
Looks Like You Guys Did A Great Job. I Bet It Was A Learning Experience! I Bet It Was Alot Of Work! Dealing With Hides Isnt Easy.
That Deer Of Mine I Figured I Would Never Get Another One Done So I Had Them Mount Him On A Large Board With A Engraved Gold Tag On It With The Year, Weight And B&c Score. I Have Currenty Have 1 Deer, 2 Crappie And 1 Pheasant On The Wall. Want To Get A Couple Of Quail To Finish It Out.
