Its raining bored thinking about new boat war eagle stick steer any of you fellows have one or know some one who does looking for reviews or opinions let them go presently use 16 ft lakesport stick steer it has been a great boat but time is getting to it and it is underpowered can not get out of the way of thunder bumpers quick enough to suit me speed is not prime concern only stability and reliability.

I have a war eagle 1648 stick steer with a nissan 25 HP. It will run 22 MPH (GPS) with 2 full size people. With 3 in the boat and rough water it has a hard time coming up in plane. It was a new boat but had been on the dealers lot for 2 years. My wife did not want a bass boat, she wanted to sit down in the boat. I think on rough water the ride is not very smooth for the guy up front, but I bet you already know that about a stick steer. I use the boat on the stump lakes around NE AR but also take it to Greers, Norfolk, and Bull shoals.
It is a nice little boat to fish from, alot of room for 2 people. Don't have to move from seat to seat as you move down the lake or stop and fish.
Cons: My boat have no rod storage. and not much other storage except under the seats and a little up front. It would be nice to be able to lock the rods out of sight. I had to add weatherproofing around the top of the livewell to stop the water from splashing out. Also the only switch for the livewell was close to the back seat( I added a timer up front.)
like luvpt said...f&f is the best thing going around here for a small to mid size aluminum boat but you can't go wrong with a war eagle either
I had an F&F 1752 Sticksteer. Very tough boat. Rough ride for the driver. I needed a larger boat with console to keep my grandsons visible. Like I said, they're tough boats, but the fit and finish may not be as good as some of the bigger names.

I had a smaller flat bottom, that was nice for 2 people, but I got a bigger boat. I have a 17ft. Polar Craft semi V flat bottom---about 7 feet wide and it will take the big water. My boat has all of the live wells, rod holders and storage. It moves very nice with a trolling motor. My boat has a 90 hp Merc. and it runs about 45 mph.---The boat weights around 1500 lbs. also.Quote:

If you are going to buy a new boat I recommend to go to futrell marine in nashville (I think there is one at hot springs) they will do you better than right and through other people I have heard about trader bills (never had any reason to deal with them) Plus futrell has some pull, bc I have a freind that need a sea ark pdq and a store in the fort smith area said no way and futrell told him to start driving early the next morning and they never even went to the show room, plus one time I bought a new boat and they had to do some work on mine to make it a longer shaft the part was 275 alone but the did it all parts and labor for 75 bucks! my boat is 17ft and is alum. and has a bass boat bottom shape and man does it ever help getting off of stumps if you get a flat bottom made it is easier to get off of the stump if they dont put the runners on the bottom and just have a slick bottom, my friend builds boats on the side/big duck hunter does this with his boat and it seems to help out a bunch! or just buy the one you like and can afford!

F&F custom rigged a 16ft boat for me. I had them to put more rake than normal for rough water. It has stick stearing and a 40 hp. Suzuki 4-stroke and give a very good ride in reasonbly rough water. If I ever have them to make another I would make it a bit wider.

Ihad F&F to build me a 16ft with stick steering. I had them to add a few degrees of rake for rough water. It does great in fairly large waves. I drag a chain and when water starts coming over the back it is time to go. When you get into swells will have to throttle back and take your time and get back to the ramp. I have 40hp Suzuki 4-stroke, which is perfect for this size boat.

Look at my article under Futrell thread if you are interested in a great used boat. It is heavy duty 100 gauge aluminium and will take the big water.
