I just bought my first Lowrance 527 and it's a learning curve, for sure. This helps a lot. What is the web address for this site? It's something I need to follow, and we also need it for our archives. Great stuff.

Me too. Just thinking....a mere few years ago I have never owned a DF, now I wont leave home without them (one on the console and one on the bow). I just recently upgraded to a Lowrance 522C (and added the lake map chip) from an Eagle 480 and I JUST THOUGHT I was in heaven before the upgrade.:eek: I have a whole lot to learn but IMO there's nothing better than regularly using the electronics and trying to learn something new every time youre on the water. I'm ALWAYS interested in somebody's interpretation of what's on their DF screens. Thanks for posting the link.

I think the author makes a good point by actually testing what he's seeing and the changes he makes to his unit by placing items in the water, like balloons.

He adjusts his unit, makes some passes, and then adjusts again until he's clearly able to understand what he's seeing.

I liked the video that was posted of the Texas crappie fisherman where he was showing what was fish, clutter, and species of fish. helped me a bunch..

Thanks for the link, it was a good read. I currently have one that is poor and just waiting until the 2010 humminbirds with the faster processor come out to get a decent depth finder with gps. I am reading all I can before hand to hopefully reduce the learning curve when I get a decent depth finder. :D:D:D
