Quick Limits?

I noticed that some of you made pretty short time of catching some very nice limits today.
It got to thinking that if that happened to me I would have mixed feelings.
If I lived close it would be different.
I rarely get to take 2 or so hours to get somewhere to fish and if I caught all 15 in the first hour that would be great but the day is over:(.
On the other hand, chomping at the bit for 2 weeks, driving 2 hrs. spending the gas and food and stuff, only to catch a few nojoes or so :mad:
I guess better to be sad than mad.

I didn't realize one had to quit fishing after they had caught their limit. Iffen they where still biting I would be catching and releasing and continuing the fun. :D Anyhow I'm not aware of any rules requiring one to stop fishing once the limit has been caught.

I guess your right, I think I would hold 14 just to be safe, my luck I would be approached by MDC guy in a bad mood.

I would only have 14 in the livewell if I was you.

I'm not that familiar with the MO fishing regs but I'm just not aware of any fishing regs anywhere requiring one to quit fishing after catching their limit. Once you get your 15 crappie in the boat you can keep fishing to get your limit of bass. :D You can't help it if those pesky crappie keep biting you jigs while fishing for bass. :D

In Kansas it is illegal to cull after one has placed the final limit in your live well. But the way it is written it sounds like it is ok to cull or replace a smaller fish for a larger as long as you haven't ever put the limit fish in the live well.

i have always stopped at 14 when the fishing is OUTSTANDING just to be safe. i can just see me trying to explain to the conservation agent why i have 15 crappie in the livewell and i am still fishing for that species; possibly having one in the boat (right before i release it) that i just caught right before he/she came around the corner...

i thought that once you had a daily limit, you could no longer fish for that species? please correct me if i am mistaken

This has always been my understanding too.

I'm not sure of the laws but I don't see how they can make you stop fishing with already having your limit, as long as you don't have more than 15 in your livewell or in your possession. Other fish also bite on crappie jigs, I'm going to have to look at the laws and check it out.

Is it considered "in your posession" if 15 is in the live well and another one is dangling from your rod and reel as youre unhooking it (as the game warden approaches)?!?:confused::eek::p

Here is what the law says, so I would guess if you have your limit and continue to fish and hook a crappie in the gills and dies that would be considered your 16th fish and you would be fined. I also fish with only thirteen or fourteen in my possession to be on the safe side. I learned something new today.

Haven't had a problem with a quick limit in a long time!:mad: But I think the last time I did, I started dragging the bottom in search of a few walleye.:) Also I have used the extra time to graph out some new areas that I had wanted to try but couldn't get away from the spots I had confidence in and it paid off in future trips.
