xps 5/5/5 charger ?'s
Hi 1 month ago I bought 3 brand new batters crank and 2 trollings ones brand everstart. The day after I went to lake to try my boat out for the year well it ran but saw it needed a water pump,So i was at the No Wave point by dock and trolled with trolling motor back to dock and loaded up. 15- 20 min on batters at max. Well then I took my boat to my boat repair guy and left it there for the month had some work done on it.( New bulge,Areator,Water Pump,Spark plugs, grease, and few other things done)
I went to bass pro shops and bought the charger , new trolling motor and fish finder on friday and brung to him to install as well on saterday. I got my boat back yesterday put it in garge and pluged up charger for like 3 hours and 4 hours today and FISH ON LIGHT is still not on and battery charge seems real warm. Power light and Chargeing lights are on it. How long should it take to charge them or is something wrong?
So sorry for my very very bad grammer

You have a 5-5-5 charger. which means if ALL the batteries are down , it is only putting 5 amps to each bank, which isn't a lot. As they come up to full charge, they usually will switch over and give more to the batteries that need it. 3-4 hours is NOT enough time if they were low. If you have 80 amp batteries and they are discharged to 40, it should take 8 hours to bring them up. they need 40 amps divided by 5 = 8 hrs

I agree. 5 amps will take a while.

I bought the same charger and found out it takes awhile to completely recharge. Leave it on and the green lite will go on and the amber float lite also.

I too use the same charger and it will recharge my group 30 Delco Voyagers over night.

I dont own a two or three bank charger but with two batteries hooked in parallel my batteries restore back to full charge overnight with only 2 amps charging. I use my troller alot but always trolling at slowest speed. By hooking them in parrallel I probably dont pull my batteries down more than 30% on a full morning's fishing trip. What kind of warranty comes with your new charger and how much do they run at BPS?

I had and XPS 5/5 on my previous boat and as and FYI it got pretty dang warm to the touch - I think that's normal for the model.
If it hasn't topped off in 24 hours, you've got some other problem - maybe a bad battery from the store, a cell has gone bad or the water level is low. Past visual inspection, you could hook 1 bank to 1 battery at a time and see if it will charge that one to "go fish". Process of elimination. Make sure the other two leads don't get grounded to your boat while you're doing that.

Oh, and it's a bad idea not to charge the batts to 100% as soon as you can after your trip.

Haven't had that brand, but a couple others, and they'll get hot too.
Old dualpro 5+5 gets real warm, MinnKota 10+10 could cook eggs :)

thanks for ur alls quick responses. I took ur alls advice and left it on over night and the GO FISH light came so im good to go:)

Not recharging deep cycle batteries as soon as possible after use will affect the life of the battery. I always get mine on the charger as soon as I get back from the lake. Never let them set for days even minimally discharged if you want to get the longest life out of them.

I spoke with the manufacturer and he told me that after 4 hours my BPS charger goes into a trickle charge??? check that out .. make sure that the blue light is on and the yellow charge light is on
