Skip,
I think that ANY jig YOU make will catch fish!
Today was a super slow day. I had thrown tube jigs in Blk/Char; Red/Char; Wht/Char;
Blue/White/ Red/white with no luck. I was getting desperate. I could plainly see crappie stacked up on a brush pile. They had been there for over an hour but were passive.
I even found a 1/4oz jig head I had crudely wrapped with natural white deer hair. It looked like any other maribou, just crude. I threw it in and nary a bump. Frustration mounted.
THEN...I found one of my last 'Skip' jigs. It was a very small RR horsehead-type jig. The head was burnt orange, as well as the pipe cleaner-like body and the tail. It was probably 1/16 oz.
I took off my crude and rude creation and but put yours on. On my second cast I landed a 14" black crappie. On my third cast, with the wind and waves and the menacing clouds all ganging up on me I brought in an 11-incher. A final cast brought in a huge bream. Guess he thought he was a crappie. lol
With the thrunder getting louder and the lightning looking bad coming from the north, the rains began with drops the size of silver dollars and I had a bunch o' big water to get across. So I packed up hurriedly and loaded up at the marina. Going back tomorrow with my grand daughter.
Needless to say, I'm gonna place an order pretty soon. You do GOOD work...and the crappie just hate it!
Thanks so much,
aj
The crappie will love it. Nice job Skip.
Now that is a fine jig.You should give that special mixed head color a name.
I like it. call the thing " Sho Nuff "
Thanks everyone.
Arkie John I am happy to hear something worked for you. Thanks for telling the story, that was cool!
redear that is a great name and I may use it for this little jig.
I really like the new green color on that head and I also like the new green for the tail. Glad to see a bunch of you like it too as that is important. Sometime think something looks great and then no one else seems to take to it, but this one I think is a winner.
