It's Gonna Be a Good Spring

Went to Twin Creeks on Ouachita to take in the 80 degree weather one more time before the front arrives and I'm glad I did!

I caught twelve crappie and kept eight, the largest of which was a whoppin'
3 lb 4 oz / 16 1/2" by my Berkley 30 lb max digital scales. All caught in 12-15 fow about 6' deep suspended over brush. Minnows on a drop-shop tandum rig and 1/16oz weedless black/chartruse tube injected w/nibbles.

Water temps ranged from 55-60 on the bigest water around Twin Creeks.

The list is as follows:

1. 16 5/8----3lb 4oz*
2. 16" ------3lb 2oz
3. 14 3/4"---2lb 1oz
4. 13 3/4" ---2lb 3oz
5. 11"-------1lb even
6. 11"-------1lb 1oz
7. 10 1/2:----1lb 8oz
8. 10"--------1lb 4oz

Three under 10" were tossed back to grow up a little and I lost a hefty slab at the boat. Next time, I'll have my net at the 'ready' before I wet the first hook!

*I think the 3lb 4oz is my personal best. I'm considering not waiting on that 17-incher. I'm gonna check the taxidermy prices tomorrrow. :D

Wow nice to see more 3 pounders as those are not everyday fish.Looks nasty the next couple days so are you taking a couple days off?What do you think this cold front and rain will do to the fish this weekend?I'm sure any shallow water will really cool down but hope the bigger water can hold some of its temp.Enjoy your meal and see you soon.TOM

I'm going to look around at taxidermy shops today and see what I can do about it.

I caught her on a black/chartruse 1/16 tube jig w/ injected nibbles.
