went crappie fishing with Starvin Fisherman; the 28th we had 75+ crappies with 5.. GO-rilla...lake is up & muddy water temp 40.5 to 45F.. with high winds early am. wind slowed down 3:30 pm.. fish came in 5' to 25' deep, it was a good bite at the upper & lower end.

How are you getting them? Minnows under floats or are you casting or slow trolling? I haven't been out but the sunshine today has my slab fever going. Thanks

My guess is he's casting or pitching a jig... Don't think he uses to many minnows...

I think those crappie are starting to recognize your boat. We'll have to start using mine, they haven't seen it in a while.

Anyway one comment, I've always casted the jigs / roadrunners etc... but
I've never ever tried the jig under a bobber thing. I've got to get braver someday,
and go out without minnows. Most of the time, I still get minnows, and never use
'em. But just think'in about no minnies close by - gives me the shakes…..

I've never really used jigs under a float either, usually cast them and slow retrieve em. I have slow trolled minnows under a float.
What kind of action do you give them and what type of jigs as well... chennile/maribou - roadrunners - tubes?
Any suggestions would help, but I do understand if ya don't want to give away your secret weapon!:o Good luck and stay warm!

Hey Larry, I hear them minnows swim just like a tube under a float.
I gotta have that bucket of minnows close by. Once the water temps starts to fall below the upper 40's I don't do as well on jigs. However last year with water temps in the upper 30's I was catching more on the jig and bobber that on the minnows. I do like that idea of dry hands. I tipped my jigs with a nibble but I don't know if that made any real difference.
I was supposed to get out on Monday the 29th but changed my mind at the last minute and went hunting. It was a really slooooow day.
