I am going to try Old Town Lake just south of Helena. It appears to be one of the very few that has not been affected by the rising rivers.
I am going to try Greers Sat. but don't know how good it will be. If the weather is alright on sunday I am going to try Conway. I hear ya on the gas. Filled up my ford diesel the other day 3.85 gallon x 26 gallons= we are getting the short end of the stick from these major oil companies.
How bad is old town affected by the wind. It is going to fairly windy tomorrow out of the southwest. We are trying to figure out where to go.
Thanks,
Ringo
I'll be at Old Town tomorrow and likely several days next week. SPRING BREAK for us poor overworked teachers:):):D:p!! I plan to take the crappie poles, bass poles, and a bunch of yo-yo's. If one plan doesn't work, maybe the other will!!! As far as the wind-----yes, you can get out of the wind if you get up in the trees, but if you've got a big enough trolling motor, the wind ain't a problem!!
Polebender is correct. You can get into the cypress trees and be able to handle the wind. The trees are where the fish are right now anyhow.
I will be across from the gravel ramp behind Lakeview Grocery in the curve.
I've been told Old Town is pretty shallow and was wondering just how shallow it is. I'm mainly concerned about having enough water to launch a deep-v hull.
8-10 ft in most places
