What is your set up for casting crappie jigs?

I would appreciate some feedback on Crappie jig casting equipment. What is your preferred rod, rod length, power, and action. What is your preferred reel and fishing line?

Spinning rod 5'6" u/l with 1000/2000 series reel, 4 lb braid/flouro-leader(6 lb.) for 1/16-32 oz jighead/plastic.

7'6 Okuma Celio with a 2000 size reel with braid. 1/32 jighead with plastics

For regular jigs - (1/16oz)
I use a 6'6" ESP PowerLite rod (Lite action) IM6, Mitchell 308x reel, 6# test Vicious Panfish Copolymer Hi-viz line. Rod has a very fast action tip.

For Roadrunners - (1/16oz)
I use a 7' BPS Bionic Blade rod (med action) IM8 ... Shimano Spirex 2000 reel ... PowerPro 10/2 hi-viz braid.

I use a Lews speed 2 with 7 foot Lews rod 6 pound test line. i also use a basspro shop tiny lite reel on a 6 foot cherrywood rod with 6 pound test line.

Thanks to everyone who responded and shared their set-ups for Crappie Casting Equipment. I was able to find a Ozark Rod Company 6'6" light pro series spinning rod with a Abu Garcia 400UI Cardinal spinning reel. My first trip with my new set-up, I was throwing a 1/16oz Road Runner with a Strike King rage tail bait and accidentally snagged me a 4ft Gator who added my bait to his collection.

Lew’s Wally Marshall 6’6” speed shooter combo. Slime Line 6 lb test super stretch mono line, 1/16 oz jig head paired with Crappie Magnet/Slab Magnet. They eat those bait up.

I use a lot of different rods for different things, all related to what you asked about. I use lots of UL stuff and when you get the bug for it look me up and I’ll put you in the boat with me and show you how I do it. 1/32 and 1/16 I like a 6 to 7’ rod with a 1500 to 2000 series reel 4 lb line but will use 6 if conditions demand. Keep in mind that I’ve caught 3 1/2lb largemouth and 5 lb cats on 4lb line. One of the advantages of 4 lb line, and I think most of us use hi vis, is the casting. A 1/16 will go a long way with a rig like I described. Controlling the fish with those rods is some easier than with a short rod but it’s all in what you’re comfortable with. You’ll find a happy spot and say how much you like it. The one you pick up when it’s time to fish without thought. Handle a lot and buy when you’ve handled one you really like. Some good rods go north of $100 but you don’t have to spend that much. However a smooth up class reel makes the day a true joy. When you buy, put the combo together and get a feel for what you’ll be spending the day with. You’ll thank me for this conversation at some point.
