Saw my first Alligator in limestone

I fished upper limestone creek yesterday. Saw Ditch and watched him catch fish while i only caught 3. I was headed back up to the first pit and noticed something coming out of the cut on the left hand side. It was a big gator coming back out to the creek ( red pin ) He was in a foot of water and i got a good look at his whole body. 10 ft at least. i could not get my phone out quick enough to get a picture. He went into the creek and i never saw him again. Very exciting to see one. Ditch had said a little earlier that was surprised he has not seen one this fall.

I have seen a few up close and personal in a kayak. Exciting is a understatement :Rofl

Just wait till one goes under right at your jon boat and swims under you shallow enough that his back spines rub the bottom. Especially one that is as long as the boat. You won't need any coffee for a while.

I’ve saw them while bank fishing. Haven’t saw one in my kayak yet. Don’t want to. It wouldn’t be excitement for me,it would be total fear. Lol

He was up near the mouth of Limestone Creek where it opens into the bay when I left. I'm sure it was the same one, 9 or 10 feet. I didn't post because I don't want someone to take a shot at him. I kind of like having a few around. This one is a "good" Gator and always steers clear of people.

I think those may be 2 diff gators....I saw 4 in one area last year in late oct and one of them slid off the point just to the north of fishing mans red pin in his photo. 3 more in the pit to the south of it immediately after...2 of them large and one of those was very large......

Had one surface about 3 feet from the kayak. Kinda unerving in the back of a creek where people don't usually go

Most of the one's that get close to people have been fed. Otherwise they keep their distance

I hope no one is feeding them...

Doesn't work out well for the gator. If that many are being seen during the day. It would be interesting to see how many are there at night
