Raining, Raining, and more Raining

With rain today, tomorrow, and Wednesday I got bored!!!!
Took wheels off trailer to inspect and clean them and ended up replacing both side wheel bearings. Bearings looked good but had a little end play. Probably could have just tightened everything up and been fine but my OCD KICKED IN. Cleaned both hubs removing all the old grease, inspected and cleaned spindles,installed new races, bearings, and seals. Should be good for the winter except greasing from time to time.
Might change oil and filter along with lower unit tomorrow. Have to order impeller from dealer in Cincinnati because I can't get Honda parts around here.
High temperatures are gonna be in the low 70's later in the week with lows at night in the 40's and I hope it will turn on the fall bite.

Sittin' on the road side = Never a good thing!!!!

Certainly is easier to do it at home and not on the side of the road

Trailer tires and bearings tend to go out at the most inconvenient times. Never had a failure sitting in the yard so I’m with the preventative maintenance crowd and buy the best tire you can afford.

The ole Tire Kick on a empty trailer also helps tell you "hey its that time" ..... And if you do it often it will tell you there's more play there than should be..... Road side bearing trouble is never fun....

I keep an infrared thermometer in my vehicle and every few trips or on a long trip I'll check the temperature of the hubs cold and then warm. There should be very little difference from one side to the other and the temperature climb should me minor. If the temperature climb on one really departs from the cold measurement or get a lot warmer than the other side, you have a pending problem. Time to do maintenance.

Good idea.
I have pulled my boat from Indiana to Florida several times and I have always used the hand on the hub test.
I think I’ll get one of those.
