Post Storm Action

The tropical storm blew through here last night/early morning with some pretty good winds but nothing devastating. We also got 3 inches of rain. The sun came out about mid-morning. I figured the gills would be feeding near the banks with all the rain and the high water. So I hit my favorite gill pond at lunch. Caught about 15 in 30 minutes, including some nice shellcrackers that have been more rare this summer. Used the Eurotackle Anisoptera with the Eurotackle Micro Finesse Soft-Lock Tungsten Jig Head. Best lunch I've had in a while! Low calorie too.

This last one managed to shoot into and down the outflow culvert shown below. Luckily, the line didn't break and I was able to pull him out! First time for everything.

Nice catches in what for me are always tough water conditions. High dirty water has always been a challenge. Good job!

Pretty fish. EuroTackle makes some good lures.

Pretty cool that they went on the feed bag right after a hurricane. That jig plastic combination looks deadly. Good looking catches.

Those look like some well fed fish. Boy, what are the odds of a fish making it into the outflow culvert? Glad you were able to wrestle him out.

You guys were lucky to escape the brunt of the storm.

We weren't so lucky around here.

Well, we were here at the house (Norfolk) thank the Lord, just lots of yard debris and downed trees for some. Several other nearby areas weren't so fortunate and had Tornado's touchdown destroying numerous buildings and homes. Even a couple of deaths reported just south of us in Bertie County, N.C., where a small Mobile Home Park was leveled. Sorry for getting too far off topic, still trying to learn to cope with these types of storms that I've never delt with before relocating down south, from up north.

I've got some new equipment enroute via USPS and hope to be getting after a good mess of gills next week. I will be releasing them into "Lake Crisco" if my new tackle proves to be sucessful! ��

I heard there was some damage down the peninsula and tornados not much further south. We got over 3" of rain. Lots of branches down, some trees also in the area. Lots of debris on the roads. Saw one power line down this morning.

The water was high but still fairly clean. I could see down about 18", maybe more.
