Shallow Spool Time
Decided to try out the shallow spool and some 2# line this afternoon. Not a lot of action but managed to get a few.

At the end I grabbed a second pole and threw out the ever more popular Beetle Spin. A chunky little bass decided to play. It was a good way to end the session.

Those are some nice ones! What brand reel and why not keep shallow spool on all the time? Just curious, I boat and bank fish both, use shallow spools on both. Do not troll much at all anymore so not much need for deep spools.

Don't laugh. This is a Piscifun (dumb name) Carbon-X 1000. It came with a deep spool. I ordered a shallow spool a few weeks ago and finally got around to trying it out. It will probably stay on.

Good looking reel, you should get better casting distances with the shallow spool. Tip your TM with a crawler piece? Bet that drives the Gills crazy.

I'm a bit of a sucker for all black. The reel function is pretty nice too, given the $55 price tag (on sale). And it weighs only 5.7oz/162g.
Yes, caught some tipped with red wigglers and some with the white/beige crappie nibbles.

A good mixed bag, and the panfish would have made a good dinner. I got a 15” LMB last Saturday on 2lb, what a gas! I like those trips where you get some nice fish and have none to clean when it’s time to go, so much simpler.

looks a like fun time to me for sure
