When first caught it was really pink:confused:

looks like a minner. How big was it.

it was about 8 or 9 inches, We caught sevral from 6 to about 11 inches. Some were real pink and all had the little nots on the head

Not sure about the pink color but we catch them sometimes when trout fishing. Always heard them called hornyheads. http://www.rook.org/earl/bwca/nature/fish/nocomis.html Says here the males do have a pinkish-bluish color when breeding.

Thanks Hawkman I belive you are right on the money. We thought it was a cross breed chub:confused: They are all over in the creek. We were fishing for rock bass, and caught prolly 50 of these fish. they fight well, we were using ultra lite uglys,And had a blast walking in the creek like we did when we were kids. We prolly caught 200 fish between the 3 of us. But we walked close to 6 miles of the creek. Great time I will take my boys next time for a little fun. THANKS AGAIN!

looks like a chub to me

We call them creek chub or horned dace around here. Fun to catch, and if I remember from when I was a kid, they aren't bad eating either.

that is what we call a creek chub. we find lots of them up this way in the holes in creeks and rivers. we often use them for pike bait.
semotilus atromaculatus is their real name
