bream trap

This may be a little off topic but I was wondering if anyone had a picture of a bream trap. I was looking for something to use to catch small/baby bream for catfish bait.
any pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What worked good for me a long time ago was an old christmas tree. Someone had threw it away and I found it on the bank. I put it into the shallow water with the tip on shore and the bottom end out toward the deep. I would wait about an hour and quickly pull the tree out by the top. The shape and thickness of the branches would catch the baby bluegills just like a net. (netting was illegal). I was young.:o

I don't have any pictures. If netting is legal I would try that first or if you you may be able to find someone with a pond with a lot of small ones that need thinning out and you could net those. You could look around for a fish basket with a smaller opening too. As a kid, I made on once and it wasn't pretty, but it worked. Good luck.

I used to catch crawdads all the time back home with a wire trap sold at walmart. sometimes a few baby bream would be in there to. I also heard of a guy who would chum up and area for a while then throw a cast net out to catch them.

I do this all the time go to walmart and get a minnow trap from there fill it with old bread and put it in a small creek area and leave it all night i catch them small like finger size.

You're welcome Exit. A friend of mine made one and uses it to catch
creek chubs for flathead bait. He baits it with dog food I believe.

it would be simpler to just take your wire mesh and make a round trap. Make it however wide you want. I make em about 8 inches wide. Then just make two funnels out of the same wire and tie them into the ends. Of course you have to cut a hole in the little end of the funnel. Make it just big enough for the biggest bream you would want to catch. Throw in some dry dog food and pitch it in a pond. Oh yeah, cut a square hole in the middle big enough to get your hand in and cover it with a nother piece of mesh. Just wire it on two sides and then when you need to open it, take one wire off and wah-lah!

hey guys i was wondering if im using big creek minnows, or small pearch for catfish bait should i use them whole, or cut them up and if so in how small of chuncks?
