Securing Trailer from Theft

I keep my boat down at the cabin and have been using a cast coupler lock. I just watched a video on YouTube where a guy picks in in 3 seconds. What a piece of crap. I now nothing will be totally foolproof but it should be a little harder than that. Anything that can be cut with bolt cutters is a no go as well. Even easier.

What got me started is a guys trailer was stolen in Memphis and he was on the news. He had 3 different locks on the trailer and the guys got them all off/cut in less than a minute and gone! He had security cameras and got it on film. So I Googled the lock I use and found reviews indicting low stars and watch the video on YouTube. Unbelievable to me they can sell a product so worthless with the advertising saying "Advance locking mechanism resists picking and prying". What a joke.

Locks keep honest people honest. If they want it bad enough, they will find a way to defeat any lock. All you can do is make it as inconvenient as possible.
We had a farm several years ago about 100 miles from home. We kept a tractor out there in a locked shed. When we would come home, we would jack up the front of the tractor and take the front wheels home with us. The shed was broken into several times but they never took the tractor

The only other security option I use as my boat stays in the water most of the time is a steel cable thru the wheel and suspension of the trailer.

So, bolt cutters won't cut thru that very easily? aircraft cable is new to me. thanks

No bolt cutters won’t but a grinder will.
However the grinder makes a lot of noise.
You know how it is, if they really want it, they’ll get it.

do they make some kind of gps device like whats on cars you can put somewhere on your trailer so it can be tracked down??

I know they do for a tractor. Oughta work on a boat too.

put a steel cable and lock through each tire wrapped around the frame of trailer . log chain trailer to floor anchor . (can dig one with post hole digger and it's very hard to dig up with boat over it . Other wise cut slab and pore concrete with eye bolt . Most thieves will look for an easier target .
