I'm knee deep in my boat restoration. I got the front deck halfway extended and halfway finished yesterday. I should start the carpet by Wednesday at the latest, then paint, decals, rewiring, install the Ulterra, etc... Whew I've got a lot left to do. Gotta hurry too....
So, to my question.
Do you guys use the same poles for spider rigging as you do pulling or pushing jigs? I'm trying to get set up with my tackle while I'm working on my boat.

I use staggered length rods to pull with, a 16 and 11 on each side up front and all 6.5 out the back. Or if just me I may run all my rods off the back, 16, 11, and 6.5s. Spider rigging I use all 16s.

If regulations allow. I run up to 8 off the front 4 on right side 4 on left. Also run up to 8 out the back if someone is with me according to how well the person listens or if they are a trained longlinner . I use 14’,12’,10’,8’, on each side of the front and 12’,10’,8’,6’, out the back on each side to start with . When running that many if you get into a lot of fish you will have to put some up . When I first started I used what I had. Just old el Cheops and caught lots of fish But the longer rods have their advantages. And I’m just now getting into spider rigging. I’m going to use my 14’ rods for rigging . I have some of the pinnacle limit rods that I really like and you can get those without breaking the bank . :twocents
I use BnM Pro Staff trolling rods to pull and push crankbaits. I use BnM Capps and Colemans to spider rig with and I use BnM PWR Trollers to power troll with.

I use B and M's 16 footers and a 9 footers off of the front and B and M's 8 footers off the back to long line with and B and M PST off the front in 14 footers to spider rig with. The reason the PST's is because of Salt water Stripe, It is the only rods that I have not broken with them on the line.
I used B-n-M PST (Pro Staff Trolling) rods to both spider and long line troll cranks and jigs. For spider rigging I use 14' and for trolling i stagger 16', 12', and 8' off both sides of the boat. PST's have good sensitivity for rigging and the back bone for trolling. Like someone mentioned, cats and stripes are a hazzard and the PST's can handle them.
I use southern crappie 14 ft heavies off the front for spider rigging and pushing. I also have a set of regular 14 for the back. For long lining I have 6 8 10 12 and 14 to stager around the boat depending on how many are fishing. Can comfortably fish 4 on the toon and 3 in my boat.
I use BnM rods for everything, and I run the same length rod (16’) for spider rigging and Power Trolling. If you can only get one set of rods, the PST’s will do everything you ask about. I do stagger my lengths when pulling cranks or jigs. I use planner boards for cranking so I use all 7-8’ rods so I can reach the board to take them off before landing the fish.

I like to use the BnM PSTs for all my trolling and spider rigging needs. They can handle anything I've thrown at them and I really like the way they feel!
