find the bait. Fish drop offs along creek and old river channels. Shooting docks is also good in places
In fall the Crappie will move to shallow water, especially creeks. Look for them in the same areas as spring.
Water still needs to cool some more for the pattern to really kick in.
What is a good water temp to start?
as for water temp, i think it just depends where and how you are fishing. If you are fishing a creek like Cotaco i usually do best when the water is around 55 to the low 60s when I'm pitching jigs around the laydowns.
I'm not a professional by any means, but it should start picking up when the water starts to get in the upper 60s to 70 and they start dropping the water level. I think the crappie start to move back into the creeks from deeper water chasing bait fish when the water temps hit around the upper 60s and they usually stay in there until the water drops below 55.
