Seen it all

A guy at Grenada today had an engine fall off his boat. Controls and everything I looked over saw another boat towing him in and didn't see an engine

Buddy of mine had an Etec 250 come off his boat, controls held it.

Bolts broke or backed out. He was getting on plane in middle of lake and it just fell off
