Had a chance to fish Barren yesterday with a friend who'd come up from Westmorland, Tn.
We'd made plans and talked about it for sometime and as the day grew closer, it seemed things were coming together, weather, water clarity, the timing was right. My buddy stopped at the local bait shop, got four dozen minnows and met me at he ramp and we were fishing by 8:15. We spider rigged the channel edge for maybe 200 yards until we ran out of bait. By 1:00 we were in the parking lot dividing our 32 crappie, shaking hands and took a few pics for my buddy to send to friends in Ohio. As we drove off I was trying to come up with a reason for such good day. On the drive in to the state ramp that morning I remember counting seven deer and the squirrels were running everywhere. Have you ever noticed the times when you see a lot of wildlife on your trip to the lake, your fishing that day just seems like a dream come true? When we were in the parking lot and about to leave, my buddy jokingly called me the crappie whisperer but I remember other trips to the like with the same results. What's your thoughts?
