Got Er Done

Met up with Canebreaker, Snubbys, and 1 of Snubby's work buddys for some cane cuttin!We started cutting where that cherry tree is on the left and ended where the boo is still standing. Took about 4hrs.including piling up all the tops.We hauled 2 good size loads out of there and still have quite a bit to cut for Habitat Day which ain't far off.It was hard work, but the weather was nice, and working with these guys seemed to make the time pass quickly. We left around 12:30.Holler at me Jimmie when you get ready to go back and finish up! Nice meeting you Joel and tell Doug thanks for his help also.Here's a few pics.

Yes.
Steve wants to put some out in one location and Joel wants to put some out in another location.
We piled all the tops on the owner's burn pile. Then he tells us he can't burn anymore. Now we have to go after them. I'll check at the field office monday to see where the major work will be and if the tops can start showing up there. You can get a bigger load if they are green, hope to get it all in 3 loads.
I hope to see a lot of c.c members this year at the habitat days.

Was a great morning yesterday for sure. It was a pleasure meeting you guys. And let me know when you wanna go get those tops and the rest of the boo cane. I will have that trailer back middle of the week after they get done in Brookhaven. I noticed the guy we spoke to building the house had a nice burn pile (1st photo) stacked up out front, wonder if he has a permit and would be nice enough to let us throw the tops in there? Seemed like a pretty good fella. If not we can haul them off not a problem.

I'll bring some 55 gallon trash bags for the small stuff we cut and don't want to haul off, leave it for garbage pick up. I think we need to clean that pile up before cutting again. We did cut some of the stumps off, guess he wants us to clean them up too.
We could plan another cutting day soon for one of the other habitat days. We will need a small trailer that we can leave the stakes on while we wait.

I can meet you over there Wednesday morning this week and we can dispose of them. Put what we can in bags and toss the others in the bed of the trucks and haul them off. If it takes a trip or three that's fine. Come back and get the other boo in the next week or so and take it to Enid or Nader seeing they are the two confirmed habitat days so far? Just let me know, old man seemed nice we was cutting the boo down for, don't wanna leave him with no mess or fuss..

I'll call Enid tomorrow and ask if we can bring it there since it will be the first.
Last year Sardis announced on wednesday that habitat day would be that saturday, The same weekend of Butla.

3 calls to Butla, 3 transfers, 3 messages left, no replies. Need a place to drop these tops soon so we can cut more.
But, I did go to a home improvement center, raised heck with the manager and left with 10 sheets of 3/4" plywood free.

Why did they just give u 10 sheets free?

That's all I can store and work with for now. Got 30 more sheets to pick up when needed.
