Has anyone used corks in long lining?
Most people push corks instead of long line dragging them at least that's what I have observed while long lining...........I guess you have better control over the cork with it up front rather than dragging it behind
I use them sometimes when fish get real shallow. You need to really slow down and go to a lite jig. I pull 1/48th. Also the person in front of the boat has to push if not floats get tangled up with those in the back. I think the planer boards I bought will helpQuote:

Last year on Weiss was the first time I long line trolled with corks .... I used a egg shaped cork with the jig 1/24 th about 2' behind the cork. I pulled them at.08 mph. With great results when the fish were scattered in that pre spawn mode. The corks created a wobble in the water . I can't explain why the fish wanted like that? They were up in the water column in 3-4 feet. All I know it worked for a week or so then it was over? Back to just straight jig no cork. Hope that helps?
Oh I forgot one other important thing I found. A planer cork I found it late in the season and worked with super lite jigs was able to cover a ton of water and helped me find the fish in open water
