Bream it's cold
Off work yesterday so I slipped away to chase some gills. The bite started slow and I was catching mostly small ones. Every now and again a keeper would fall for the red worm though. They were stacked up like chord wood in three spots and it was like fishing the spawn. As soon as the bait hit the water the fish would bite. The bites were light though and I had to down size to the smallest cork and split shot along with a really small hook. A lot of times the cork would just twitch sending rings out and I would snatch them up. Sometimes they would smash it and run the cork under. Fishing 15 fow about 8-9 foot with my jig pole. I tried a slip cork but too much weight was needed to get the slip action of the line through the cork was needed and I couldn't see the bite. Had one lonely speck fall for the red worm and man did he have some color. Anyways don't forget the winter time gills still have to eat.
