Nice batch of panfish

I got a nice batch of panfish incuding a 13 1/4 " one that I believe is a shellcracker people around here call em red ears .Attachment 224910 I posted these pics on th MD forum allready then figuered it would be a good one to put on here . I got em with a 1/32 jighead with a pink trout magnet tipped with grass shrimp that I catch myself . Had the jig 3ft under bobber fished along some grass .Attachment 224912Kept these of many more caught for a jobsite fish fry . Can someone confirm that is what you guys a little further south call shell cracker.

I think you are correct, the pic below is Chinquepin...aka ...shellcrackers or redears that I Caught a couple weeks ago.

That is a big shellcracker for around here! Whenever im crappie fishing and hook something that can fight and runs in circles I know Im into a bluegill or shellcracker. Try an ultraliht rod and 2 lb test, really exciting fight that way.

Man that is one nice box of feesh.nwish we had them yellow perch down here.

They are one of my favorite fish to fish for. Kentucky Lake has a pretty good fishery for them,some years outstanding. On light tackle they are just a hoot.

Nice catch! That size would be rare in this local area.

Shell Crackers love red worms around here on the bottom, great fighting fish!

Def a shellcracker. We call them chinquapins ,as DCottrell pointed out or just chinks for short. You may no we call crappie sacaulait also, Sac's for short. And the rest of your catch we would call bream or perch. No matter what though, that is a fine mess of fish.
