WIth all the fishing guides around getting paid, how do they help Support the lake they fish to replenish population. Plenty of reports in the past of 30 , 60 some 90 fish a day. If they are full time guides do the math. Not to affend anyone just need clarification.
I'd say guides are more likely to put structure in the lakes that help fish survival. They're also more like to catch and release and encourage their clients to catch and release. Each fish returned is money in the bank on future guide trips. No quality fish, no one is paying for guided trips. Just my 2 cents.
Don't take this as clarification, just my opinion. Guides are people who have a strong passion for fishing. Species are a matter of preference. Until this past year I was
not a person that would find a need to hire a guide of any kind. At 73, my time to go fishing is more pleasurable when I spend more time taking fish off the hook than
looking for the fish. Guides have taught me a lot about crappie fishing this year, enough to feel more comfortable in my kayak and where to find the slabs. The guide
I hired was a cabinet maker that found days he didn't have work, so he fished, got good and decided to help others catch fish. Numbers are determined by weather,
knowledge and satisfaction of the customer. True, some guides don't care about the numbers...........but most do. High numbers means people were lucky to have a
guide get them on the fish and keep it legal with many fish released safely to grow up to become keeper slabs. Some guides fish to make clients happy and some fish
to make money. If I feel happy, I will show my gratitude with a tip. Support the lake by stopping for lunch on the lake, ice & other supplies. Crappie are so prolific
they don't require a lot of help. Just keep throwing the dinks back to grow up. Too much pressure on a given lake will take its toll in time. Pressure is determined by
the folks fishing that lake. When the catch rate slows, the fishing slows. Hope this helps.

Do you guys happen to know the gps coordinates of the structure or habitat the guides are sinking into our lakes? In addition, most paying customers would like to go home with a limit of fish of their choosing. In my opinion the structure is put out by guides for 3 reasons, #1 fish survival ,# 2 tournament advantage,# 3 supper for paying customers.
Their is a guide on Weiss that will sell you 50 gps coordinates of structure that he has planted on that lake.
I have noticed that, what 100 bucks for 50 gps waypoints? The same guy just helped Alabama power along with students from Cherokee high school put out more habitat in August of this year with waypoints to be listed, haven't found those yet. Anyone have those waypoints? If so would you send them to me please.
The waypoints were listed on his website about a month ago. My wife and I fished with one of the guides on Weiss Lake about five years ago during the fall then in March of the following year we took our family up for a week. The first day at Weiss I went to the marina this guide worked out of and ask him were that I could take my family the next day and catch some fish.
The guide not only told me were to go but told me where he would be at a same light and how he would be fishing. He ask me to stay back not to interfere with his clients fishing but just follow him during the day. I meet some of the other guides and everyday for a week they help they were a great help. We went back the following year and again for a week the guides were telling us where and how they were fishing. They did not know that on the last day we were there that a friend of mine and me had molded 900 pieces of lead and we were giving it to them. The guides which there is 5 of them that I got to know have always been extremely helpful and very informative. Each of the guides have spent a lifetime doing what most of us would love to do even though it is a lot of work when you do it daily. If the fifty waypoints cost a $100.00 that is actually cheap compared to what it cost to purchase or build the structure.
I do not intend to offend anyone I just know from meeting these men and talking to them that over the years they have done a lot to help the conservation and fishing at Weiss Lake.
