Thanks. Ferdi
I think it's time for you guys to renew your fishing licenses also.
I remember opening day of dove season there, nobody went to school. It was a ritual for us growing up.
Doves were safe with me. I usually averaged 1 or 2 per box of shells. One particular bad shooting day, one circled around while I reloaded and gave me 3 more shots. Then he laughed as he flew off.
We have the ring neck dove here now and they have no season. Got to give a couple the taste test just to see if they are worth killin'. I had to give up on the mourning
dove cause they fly too fast. They say speed kills, but I've slowed down so much I'm no longer a threat.
Nah, you haven't slowed down. You just ain't as mad at them birds and deer as you use to be. You still have the stories to tell about those earlier days though. Keep enjoying them. Ferdi
They're fast for sure Joe, a real challenge. Like you, I probably wouldn't be as quick today. What aggravated me was those quail out in West Texas. They'd be just far enough out of range not to get a shot. Slowly move closer, and they'd they fly off for another 30 yards and land. If you took a shot, they'd bend down peck at the shot like it was feed.
