Yuck! I'm with you, plus that hot tar smell is nasty. I don't know how they stand it.
Probably smells like money to them.

I thought road crews always had 5 or 6 guys standing around. DP
I used to lay blacktop during my college summer days. Great money but TOUGH conditions. I used to drink 5 gallons of water a day as it was so hot. I wore sturdy boots, heavy long pants and long sleeve shirts to avoid getting burns. Those guys earn their paychecks for sure in my opinion.
Due to the weather conditions, a lot of this kind of work going on around my neighborhood. Most of 'em fellers don't speak English anymore.
