This is difference in 455kHz and 800kHz (which will be added to function with the upgrade XHS 9 HDSI 180 T in your 899ci HD SI)...
The 800kHz frequency will not have as much range out to the edge of the display ... But the added detail closer to the boat is stark ...

So with the HD transducer can I switch from 455kHz to 800kHZ with the push of a button?

It is a good move in my opinion......Even if you don't use the 800khz, the 455khz will be sharper. If you really want to analyze some structure......setting to a lower range and looking at it with 800Khz from different angles is a good way to do that.
SI Range (in either 455kHz or 800kHz) will be mostly dependent on the bottom composition being scanned ...
A soft mud bottom doesn't reflect as much sound as a hard gravel bottom ...
You may get good bright returns in 800kHz on gravel up to 100 or more feet ... Where a a soft mud bottom may only get Range out to 50-60 feet ...
This is where the SI Enhance window can help by having the SI Sensitivity instantly accessible to change the brightness of the image as the bottom composition changes ...
I had to crank the SI Sensitivity to 19 to even get 65ft on this mud bottom ...(at 800kHz)...

Rickie, Do you have a picture of the HD transducer? Will it fit in my 899 transducer bracket?
You must change brackets too.
