I will have a total knee replacement in three weeks. I have been hearing lots more pro stories than negative. I am looking forward to it. It can't be any worse than it is now. What is the experience around here? DP

Several co workers have had theirs replaced and are doing good. Be sure to do the therapy and exercise and you will do fine. Prayers sent.
I've had both mine done. Take your pain pills and work hard at therapy. End result is good, but glad I don't have any more to replace.
My dad has his replaced Last December. The therapy is the ticket to full recovery. He stayed in for therapy for about 2 weeks and then continued his exercises at home after that. He's doing really good with it. Prayers sent your way for a speedy recovery!!
I agree with those who have said that therapy and exercise is the key to successful surgery. The best results I have seen are the ones who did their therapy and exercises religiously. We'll keep you in our prayers, Don, and pray for a quick and complete recovery.
Get it over and hope you follow orders so you can get back on your feet. I know folks that had it done with good results.
Hope things go well and you are running a marathon in 2 months.
DP...my wife had a full knee replacement about a year ago and she is doing great. As everyone else is saying..therapy and exercise, exercise, exercise. Also her doctor told her for every 10 lbs of weight loss resulted in about 70 lbs of pressure being taken off of her knees......dave
Good luck, and prayers for a fast recovery.
Start a "Pre-habilitation" program Don by working those quadriceps right now!!! Start now with quadsets and long arc quad maneuvers to strengthen those muscles before the surgery and you will be a step ahead of the game when you start your rehab. I wish I was up there or you were down here so I could provide therapy for you....I see tons of total knee patients and love doing orthopaedic rehab.
