never know what your gonna catch , ive caught a few weird looking ones myself over the years!
Looks like a dwarf crappie
Broken back I would guess. also makes them hard to fillet.
I have caught fish of several species with broken or deformed backs. That looks like a deformity with the short tail.
Looks like a white crappie, fast back edition.
Wasn't broke or anything, just short. Looked like it was about an inch short.
that's a new hybrid they are trying in Mississippi so that those measuring devices you drop the crappie in and read the length will work correctly. Sardis crappie are so thick they won't drop all the way in so they shortened the tail by 1.5 inches to correct it.
A crappie gene went astray somewhere, most likely inbreeding I recon.
