Went out over the weekend and fished Guntersville and it was basically same story it's been the last few times out. Fished several different areas and never could really locate any fish. Finally picked up 4 fish on a pine tree laydown in 7ft of water single pole jigging a bobby garland baby shad in monkey milk and that was the only fish caught all day. Water temp was 58-59 degrees. It's been a rough crappie season for sure .If it were not for the Bass and catfish the pickings would be slim. Grilling large mouth Bass has become a favorite of the family the Bass have been to big to fry.

The same with me fishing Guntersville, one here and there, no concentration, no pattern working that I can find. I hope it gets better or I am going to change species or something. The fishing has been good but the catching is poor. Fished Sunday morning and only caught two, one shallow maybe 2 feet deep on a small home made jig, and one over 20 foot of water about 10 foot deep. I really don't no what to do except keep going and as they say a blind hog will find an acorn if he roots enough. Maybe this flood we have will make a change.
Was out with CS on Saturday afternoon/evenging on the Big G. We found some 62 degree water and started fishing. We managed 30 nice chunky fish while long lining in 6-8 FOW in a stump field. Best color was Jelly blue w/ chartreuse tail. Not a single short fish. No bloody tails but some of them had their spawning colors on and two of the females (Whites) had loose eggs so I think it's starting to turn for the better. Got a real nice black on a jig I bought from litebite56 earlier that day. Got to do some double duty Saturday by fishing Weiss in the morning with LB56 and then moved over to the Big G in the afternoon to fish with CS. Fish on the Big G were 14 whites and 16 blacks.
What part of the lake were you fishing bob? If you don't mind. I had a buddy that fished up around scottsboro and said he found 62-64 degree water and ended up with a limit also but like I said I never found water temp over 59 degrees.Quote:

In Brown's Creek it's basically 56-58 degrees on the North side of the causeway, and 60-62 on the South side of the causeway. At South Sauty it's 57-59 on North side of causeway w/60-62 in shallow protected areas away from the channels. Don't know about South side of causeway. Struggled to get half a dozen crappie on Friday in Brown's creek, but all but one were caught in the 60-62 degree water. Big Surprise, caught a good sized yellow perch in the colder water just as we started fishing.
I found 65°+ water in Goosepond Saturday evening in the campground but didnt catch a single crappie. Was probably 6-7 boats drifting around for crappie and only saw 1 small one caught total.
If this rain does not mess them up the fishing will get good by the end of the week or next week. I hope the rain did not cool the water back down much
