Check it out. I would like to point out that Grenada has a 12" minimum and from what I hear the lake is producing good numbers.
What are your thoughts about increasing the size gradually with the goal in mind - 12". This would not be for all lakes, many do not have the food source like Talquin and Crescent.

Like you said it would depend on the body of water but anything that actually works to help keep fish around for our grandkids is a good thing. The saddest fish stories are the ones that say how good it used to be.
I think 10 inch is fine only if needed, i wouldn't go past that though. I personally would rather have a limit of ten inch fish than 12 plus. Just prefer them for frying up. would support a slot say you could only keep a few fish above a certain length if needed for health of the lake, but in the end I'd support whatever keeps the crappie in the lake.

lots of opinions about this,............. I was opposed to the 12" limit in Monroe in the mid 90's but after it was lifted we caught fish 15" and 16+" fish on a regular basis and that was the purpose. Articles said they were doing it to produce "trophy size fish". Don't know the whys or hows but it worked. I would like to see a 10" statewide.
My thoughts is to meet in the middle. Maybe go with a 11 inch for 2-3 years and if needed, then push it to 12 inch. This would give the 10 inch fish more of a chance to produce. Most of us regulars that fish Talquin stick to a self-imposed 12 inch size anyway. However. I often shake my head when i walk by the fish cleaning table at times. I got no issues with a couple of small ones for quick fry, but when i see almost 25 fish less than 10 inches (on a regular basis), it really pisses me off!:bash
One more thing, Sunday I kept 18 fish all over 12 inches. No doubt I put over 50 in the boat in the 10 inch range and went back in the lake to hopefully produce or worst case, some chump to catch and keep for themselves!nonono
Last Thursday at Talquin we watched several people boat and keep every thing that bit. I would rather eat a 11 inch than a 12 plus.
