5 to 7 inches long I suppose. I know in January I catch a lot snagging that are 4 to 6 inches long.
not too big if you believe the growth rates stated by biologist. I think they grow faster than that though but they should know.
Black crappies mature at 2–4 years. Growth during the first four years of their life is faster in the warm waters of the southern part of its range than in cooler waters in the north. From time to time someone will find a sweet spot and catch a limit. I'm thinking there will be a lot of 7 to 10 fish days this year. Catching 50 to 100 and keeping 7 to 10. Two years from now will be like it was two years ago. A gold mine. I hope I'm wrong.
I thought they hatched out at 2 pounds at Grenada!
