Do they make a kiel saver for aluminum boats ? Last saturday we fished in a friends boat that is a deep v. As easy as he hits the ramp at engineers point it still is going to grind. As we were waiting for his wife and the trailer another boat lands on the ramp and trottles up. It had a kiel saver. I told my friend that's what he needs. The guy in the other boat says they don't make them for metal boats.
Is this true? Seems like there is a market if not. Thanks.

I put one on my 18 ft metal express. Sure do work good. Overton's was the cheapest when i bought mine
I pull up on the ramp each trip in order to get in and out of the boat. I just had my keel reinforced with 3/8 aluminum. If you can find a good welder this is another option.
i havent noticed it doing anything to it but maybe a little paint gone on mine when I do it
Here is another option that folks have been using.
I got a quote to have my keel done in Line-X locally and they wanted $300 for a 8" x 6 foot strip because of all of the time it takes to cover up everything for the application (trailer, boat etc).:yikes
I looked on Overtons. 150.00 for a boat my size.
Make sure your boat is compatable for one. They wont work on all aluminum boats.Quote:

I had a Keel Shield and Keel Guard both peel off my boat. It seemed to me the force of backing off the ramp was "rolling" them off the keel. I then inquired about a Hamby and was told they would not work on an aluminum hull. The War Eagle has a 1/4" extruded keel, so I'm not real worried. But will eventually go with a weld on or spray on.
