whats goin on with green river lake?does the alge bloom have every one quit or just not talking?does anyone know how bad this even is?is it safe to fish ther are rthe fish safe to eat,are they bitting.nobodys saying anything about it .id love to go down and try for some crappie.any info at all????
Gooch ... to the best of my knowledge, Green River Lake does not have the blue-green algae problem. At least it hasn't made the news, as far as I know. According to this: http://lrl-apps.lrl.usace.army.mil/w...plots/grr.html Green has been fairly stable for the last 6 weeks, only coming up a foot or two recently.
As to why there's not been many, if any, reports being posted ... I'd have to guess that the heat, storm chances, and the "fun in the sun boating crowd" has many people holding off from going. This forum usually does get kind of quiet through the mid to late Summer period, but should start picking up in a few weeks.

Had 43 and 40 over the weekend bk pushin cranks. Water look like color of moss but fish wer still hungry.
Crappiepappy........I was at green yesterday............there are signs all over warning of the algae bloom at GRL....
Harmful to children and especially to pets....it even says on the sign not to eat the skin off the fish....
Was over Saturday watching t.slabseeker "school me". The water color to me looked like it had a red tint. Fried up filets Monday night - didn't affect the taste to me!!!! Only problem I had was the army of "weekend warriors" Thought I was on the high seas at times!! Can't wait for cooler weather .

I was at Taylorsville, this past Sat., and did not see anything out of the ordinary. Well, other than there not being as many boaters as one would expect to see on a Sat. There seemed to be a 50/50 mix of boaters & anglers, even during the midday hours, when there would normally be a 70/30 mix (more boaters than anglers). The algal bloom was probably the main reason.

I finally got to go on Monday, first time all summer to Green. My buddy and I had twenty four keeps and caught mostly short fish all day. A great time!!! I had a grilled fish sandwich last night, tasted great to me too. The fish we were on were really hungry and feeding right in the middle of the channel in 20 feet of water about 15 feet deep. They were following around a school of shad. I didn't do any cranks, never done them yet but fished mostly drifting with minnows. Wouldn't hit my jigs for some reason, just wanted the minnows.

@ jetcrew0 I was with T.slabseeker that day and we just knew that the one wave maker was going to run you over:yikes! I know it's not funny but we just had to laugh when he gave you that "what's the problem" look:dono after words.
