Remember When!! Old Timers

I got to laughing at myself...I misspoke in another thread and C.J helped my out and he also talk about learning something on YouTube. I got to thinking heck internet was not even invented when I first started crappie fishing. I was uptown though had a 10 ft flat bottom, two poles, one of the orange "real cane poles" that pushed together for a float and minnow and the other a nice new green extension fibroglass pole with the line that went up through the center. A 6 ft paddle for a depth finder and you never even heard of filleting. Things sure do change!

Thats how me and my grandfather used to fish the backwaters. Ran many a yo-yo that way too. Now he laughs at me when I pull up with my fancy poles, trolling motor, and all of my electronics! Im not sure if it helps me catch more fish, but it sure makes me feel stupid when I can't find them with all of that stuff!!

I hear ya, sometimes I get caught up in all the technology and over think what I am doing instead of just going fishing.

I still fish that way today. I do use a fish finder now. Don't like trolling with spider rigs but to each his own. Everyone has a right to fish how they want as long as it is legal.

Enjoying yourself is really all that matters no matter how it is done. You can also get into alot of smaller unfished areas too. My dad will not even get in the boat with me if I mention spidder rigging.

Those were good times. When a cinder block doubled for a anchor and a weight to keep your boat from blowing out the back of your truck.I pass up a lot of those places today just remembering the good ole days

I still have my 10' flatbottom that I use in my son's pond and a few of the smaller borrow pits, use my Basstracker everywhere else.

Legal is over rated...
Dynamite is BY FAR, the best way to fish.
Aside from hoop netting crappie in the spring.

An old crank telephone works pretty good too!

Me and my brother-in-law had 2 car hoods welded together.Done real well.When we were done we just pulled it up on the bank and went on our way,knew it would be there when we went back.Things sure have changed.Not even safe to have a boat sitting in your yard or any visable place from the road.
