You are now the "official" Citrus county pro in that area ! ! ! !
Need a report ........................................
Lee- Here's the story I'm stickin' to~moved here(Citrus) 9 years ago and started fishin' The TA chain and Rousseau...USED to be a dependable fishery from Hernando to Floral City...I haven't tried Hernando or FC for years now, even Panny just down the road from me...just lost interest due to the diminished results. I now travel 1 - 2 hours for dependable fishing or even 5 hours to Lake Talquin from time to time. I have tore up bluegills and nice shellies in Rousseau, have even heard dependable, but scarce reports on quality Specks at Rousseau but never caught ONE!! Too bad, because all three lakes on the TA chain have excellent slabfest pavillions, especially FC and Hernando. That's my straight skinny, really.

I fished Rousseau once and found it to be absolutely beautiful. Seemed like clear water to me with a deep channel out in the middle. Lots of vegetation and stumps. I would be shocked if there weren't a strong crappie population in that lake, bassin' supposed to be excellent...but it is a good drive for me so I haven't been back.
Hey Luke- You're right/wrong on your observation...absolutely sweet-lookin' lake, well-marked channel(wooden numbered pilings) more typically is shoreline oriented, any deviation means guaranteed lower unit damage!! Most of the Lake has standing(unseen) timber just inches from the surface. Great bass fishing, bluegills too, nice shellies...but the Speck population SHOULD BE fabulous due to the submerged, numerous timber...but I gotta say NOT for me...of course I'm a sucker for 10" bluegills on a 4 wt. flyrod/popper! Great ramp facilities @dam area and also @Dunnelon...LOTS of Bass tournaments there this time of year(mainly weekends).

I think it's Doug right? Sorry if I forgot your name...but you would definitely know better than I. Just seemed like the specks would be somewhere in that lake. I was just taking a stab at it.
I know Ranger knows Tasala well..... maybe he will pop in.
You hear a lot about the pollution and the clean up in Lake Apopka.
Does anyone one crappie fish in Apopka?
Joe
Actually Luke, had a name change 2 weeks ago...Ray, as in Ray-tired...just don't tell the ("marrige"?) counselor from Titusville area, lol!
