If you're just talking about the technological advantage...I would think the 360 and not "having to be moving" to get the image....
Most recreational fishermen are lucky to put enough pennies together to afford a decent SI unit....adding a $2000 accessory is going to be above most recreational fishermen's affordability...
The 360 will predominately be utilized by sponsored tournament fishermen....
It's still cool technology...

Since I longline the majority of the time, the 360 would appear to be beneficial as it would show/indicate any fish or structure ahead of you and you could adjust course accordingly, and would work well for any method where you are moving. With the current DI/SI technology, you see what is directly below you or off to either side only at the position of the SI TD. I really think the SI technology is good for people on the hunt for fish such as new water. With so many guys having GPS/SI/DI, any new water becomes familiar water pretty fast when scouting as you can mark the POI for a later day or time.
I wonder how the 360 would handle the small amount of water turbulence from boat movement, would it distort the picture even at a "slow" speed of .7mph or so in the forward looking half of the picture. Slower speeds it may/probably not, but lets bump it up to 1mph or more when pulling cranks. I get no distortion from my HDS 8 when I'm moving from one side of a large cove to the other side using the TM on 7 or more which ='s about 1.8mph or so.
I don't think water turbulence is going to be much of an issue with this technology...the Xducer sticks down in water even past the outboard skeg...

I think it's advertised for use up to 9mph...

Hey kosmo... You're burning up the 360 here and at bbc....
You about to buy 1...??

I think rnvinc is on the money as always. I could afford the 1198, but don't see enough advantage to turn loose of 2 grand more for the 360, however I am a titewad! Kosmo you need to get one of those, so you can post tons of pics for us here on the board!!!

Its way out of reach for me ,Im still saving pennies for a si/di unit .maybe I can sell my boat and buy one for bank fishing.
What I think will be interesting to see is....
1. Does the deployment system play any part in the actual operation of the Xducer...other than just sticking the Xducer down in the water...
2. Can the Xducer be used (and offered for sale by HB) separate from the deployment system...
I could see a lot of guys (like myself) build my own deployment system to cut down on the cost of this beast....
