Three times in the last 2 fishin trips, I have went to set the hook, only to break the line about a quarter of an inch below the weight. I'm fishin with 10b test line with 6lb test rig, and I change the rigs frequently, so they are not worn. Am I settin the hook to hard? I don't get it, n it's infuriating...
bad line(bad lot from the manufacturer) or your just on big fish:)

My thoughts may not be worth much but I was doing the same and went to a 10 pound line on my rigs like several suggested and it help. Could be gar too

KDAVID might be right but I'd go with 10lb on the rigs.
I do use 10lb fluorocarbon on my rigs as well.
I use 15 lb test on my rigs. The main reason is for the stiffness so that the upper line won't tangle.

Bad line I use 6lb all time with no problem. Maybe give line a pull between left and right hand and see if it snaps easily. I have got spool bad line that would snap with little pressure.
Use braid!
i like 10 lb. test, i think that will help.
BRAID! Unless the water you fish is gin clear, braid is awesome. Very sensitive and strong. My only complaint is that it tends to wrap around rod tip, eyes, etc.
