What did you hit to do that? I've seen em bent but not broken.
That ain't good :dono
I was trolling back to ramp in 5th gear and hit a stump, which is not the first time hitting stumps.for some reason it broke its been a great trolling motor,no bad words for it. Just got off phone with minn koda, those people are great, sending new shaft free. I have a friend with a edge too and fishes spring, strawberry, current and hits a lot of rocks.
guess when mine broke it hit it just right at the right angle at the wrong time lol.
Great people at minn koda, they were every helpful in answering other q'tions.
I had one do that in current river once. Guess I shouldda called somebody!
I have broke several of those composite shafts but never had one break clean like that one did, most of the time when I break one it splinters all over the place. I have gotten very handy at changing them out, takes me about 15 minutes.
Good to hear they will replace shaft with no issuses . I have a new 70 maxxum foot control , I'm usually tough on equipment.
I bought a motorguide 67LB for mine with steel shaft and it's hit some things. If your not hitting stuff from time to time your probably not fishing and great to hear Minn. was so helpful. Sometimes you just can't get em up quick enough once you see the stump or rock.
I use a propane torch to heat it up, being careful not to burn the paint, a pipe wrench to remove the old shaft after its hot, while it is still hot clean the threads on the lower unit ( wire brush), you need some red locktite on hand also, slide your wires thru the new shaft then apply the locktite, screw the new shaft in hand tight, then use a pair of channel locks and a rag the final tighten, the rag will protect the shaft, let set if you wish, I start the reassemble after tightening the shaft for the final turn.
