Sorry, I can't help but should be time. They been catching Bluegills here for awhile on Nimrod and surrounding lakes..
Caught a load of fish @ Portia, only a few nice bluegill to keep, but really enjoyed fishing with my dad. Broke two jigging poles, other than that good day. If you go to Portia beware of the deep hole just below waterline on ramp. Saw one guy jerk off a tire from trailer.
Had a good report from "Lake Charles" have to weed through the small ones!!!!
Bream at Bear Creek are doing good.
Heared good things about horseshoe and Bear Creek. Im going to go try them at bear creek friday myself . ill give you a report afterwards. The lakes at village creek state park in wynne are supoosed to have some big bream too. but i havent been this year and last year only went once and had to weed through small ones to get to nicer ones. The north end of old town lake in wabash, ar is puttin out some monster shell crackers but it may be a little over your 2 hour drive from paragould.
where is bear creek is that at hollis
It's in Marianna, ar. In
Lee county. it's called the Mississippi river state park now.
at the ramp at the highway or the other ramp south of there? there's shirey bay,, and the horseshoe lake on the rainey brake area out from lynn. it has some big bream and shell crackers but watch for timber rattlers. even watch for them in the water. don't know if i can ever fish that place in peace but caught shell crackers over a pound there. if you go there look for beds or fish the cypress trees.
We went there earlier this year. Caught lots of bream, just not alot of big ones. Was talking about the rattlesnakes, and low and behold, my buddy seen one. Got a pic of it, but he didn't kill it. What a dummy.
