spider rigging tips needed.

Hi ya'll I was recently at Lake Washington in Mississippii and everybody their was using spider rigs. So Im fixing to build on for my crappie boat. Any tips or info for fishing them would be greatly appricated.

Go with the best equipment you can afford. Fish about .5 and if that doesn't work go faster, if that doesn't work go slower. It's a productive way to fish, but it is not a fool proof solution to fish catching. At the end of the day, you still need to find fish, find the depth, and find what they're hitting. Spider rigging speeds this process up some unless you get a buncha poles hung up at the same time on a windy day. I know at Washington, the crappie gave us a pretty good whooping. The "good" fishermen (spider riggers, and single polers) all came home with fish in their box however they chose to fish that day.

One last thought about Washington. There was no thump when the crappie bit. It was more of a KAWHUMPH:biggrin

If you don't want to spend big bucks you can build rod holders from 4'' pvc pipe. That is if your 1/2 way mechanically inclined.You can cut them out with a drill, hole saw bit and a table saw.

thanks for the info ya'll and RCC the crappie gave me a pretty good whooping when I was their a couple weeks ago. I was trolling with a single line with a couple black and yellow tail jigs tied on it and never got a bite the 1st day I was their.

CrappieKeeper and I are both going to rig our boats with Hi-Teks. Seen a hung up jig pole the other day, in the back of a guys boat, turn a Hi-Tek clean towards the back of the boat and still not pull out the rod!
