Recent Heart Attack
Last Friday I was working on a fence when I started feeling pretty bad. I had never felt that way before and thought it was indigestion. To my knowledge, I'd never had indigestion so it was strange to me. My chest felt heavy and tight, I had very little dizziness/light headness, but felt I had to sit down. After catching my breath for a few minutes, I went back to work. This went on for a good 4-5 hours throughout the day. I finally completed the fence, picked up my mess and went home, unloaded the truck. Since I had never experienced what I had felt before, I sat down in front of the PC and researched heart attack signs. After reading up on them along with some others experiences, I drove myself to the Owasso St Johns ER. Mentioning chest pains/heart attack gives you a free pass to the head of the class in any ER. The ER Dr. deteremined that I had indeed had something happen and sent me to Tulsa. Monday morning, I had two stints placed in a main artery that was over 90% blocked. They "piggy backed" the stints and I was told that there was zero blockage after the procedure. I'm doing fine but a little sore, was released from the hospital tuesday morning and went out on Oologah fishing yesterday. Today, off to Sapulpa to look at a job since I've been released to go back to work on Monday the 12th.
This post is not meant for anyone to "feel sorry" for me as it's my own fault I had a Heart Attack. The purpose of this post is to let EVERYONE know that it could happen to you and do not think for a second that when you feel something you've never felt before will go away. I was lucky I heeded the warning and checked myself in. Even though I had plans to go out on Oologah last Saturday, I figured getting checked out was just a little more important.
Thanks to those of you that knew and didn't post anything until I had a chance to do so.
Listen to your body People! Don't take any chances!

I am 72 with heart trouble & diabetes on both side of my family..My dad's folks had a life span average of 57 years. A little longer on my mother's side. I don't smoke or drink. I have a physical yearly and ask my doctor each year,"is it time for a heart checkup"..He says,"no". Like Reaper, I don't have heartburn or indigestion.
Do you have to have problems before having a heart checkup..? Blood sugar 80-90 & BP average 124/74.
I am due for my annual physical next month and I will ask him the same question again...
CR, glad you listened to your warning system and got things cleared up...

Really glad to see all is well with you and pleased to see you'll still be able to continue contributing and playing around in the off topic sand box.

I went to a new doc week before last and she was the first doctor I've seen in my adulthood who has really taken the time to review my family history and ask specific questions. My dad died suddenly at age 31 with a massive heart attack and at least 3 of his 9 siblings died early from heart problems as well. So, to begin with, the doc is scheduling me for a stress test, just waiting on the call for my appointment.
Reaper, so glad you're doing well. When you find tasty stuff that's "doctor approved" please share and I'll do the same!

Reaper, sure glad to know you're doing ok after your heart attack and procedure. Many do not survive and the lucky ones realize how precious life really can be. Can't imagine not having you, or Chatt, around to pester here in the forum. I'll say a big thank you to the Lord in my next round of prayers and ask Him to watch over you. I plan on bringing my medical bag to the crappie tournament and will do blood pressures and pulseOx on anyone interested in getting an accurate reading.
